Low Maintenance, Low Stress and Easy on the Eye

With the outdoor growing season slowing down, it’s time to focus on bringing the beauty of plants inside your home. We all know that plants look attractive, but dig a bit deeper and you’ll find that indoor plants offer much more. Interior landscaping has been proven to play a fundamental role in providing a pleasant and tranquil environment in which to move, work or simply relax. Plants will also reduce carbon dioxide levels, increase humidity and lessen airborne dust levels.succulentFBWeb

So, what might you consider for your home? If you’re looking for plants that won’t require a lot of attention, yet offer a kind of artistry, then succulents may be just the answer.

Succulents come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, require little maintenance and pruning and can tolerate dry conditions. Some need very little light to thrive. Most have thick leaves and stems that act like water storage tanks. Their leaf thickness and infrequent watering needs also means there are fewer pests to contend with.

You will often find succulents used to create beautiful “green walls”, placed in terrariums, and because they’re often tiny enough, atop desks or window sills. It’s important to note that some succulents have very pointed leaves. Be sure to keep these plants out of reach of children or pets that could potentially harm themselves on the sharp leaves.

It’s a great time to think about how to use these interesting little plants throughout your home. For a great seasonal look, I’ve combined small pumpkins and succulents to achieve color, life and artistry all in one!
