With warm soil temperatures and cooler days, fall is a perfect time for planting. People have always believed that spring is the best time and although it’s a good time to plant, fall is really a perfect time for putting things in the ground!

Trees, shrubs and bulbs have an advantage when planted in the fall because they begin to establish their root systems. Even when it looks like the foliage is going dormant the root system will continue to grow until the ground freezes. You have fall to help establish a good root system and spring to continue with its warm soil temperature and cooler days. This helps create a strong and healthy root system to carry it through the hot and dry summer season.
