A little work now means beautiful seasons ahead!

Fall bulb planting will fill your garden or landscape with beautiful bulbs that bloom in spring and summer.

Now is the opportune time to plant bulbs, due to cooler soil temperatures. Make sure you start with good quality bulbs from a garden center or catalog, to insure beautiful color.

Bulbs spend the winter making roots, so they’re ready to display their flowering beauty once spring rolls around. Also important is location. Even healthy bulbs will fail if they’re planted in the wrong spot. Most do best in full sun (at least 6 hours of direct sun a day) and well-drained soil. A thick layer of mulch is also helpful, offering a bit more protection from a potentially harsh winter.

Another important factor to consider when planting your bulbs is depth. Different bulbs are planted at different depths. Good packaging will provide the proper planting information for that particular bulb. Remember to water and fertilize your bulbs after planting in insure beautiful spring color.

Bulbs are also a good investment for the time and money! A little work now will yield years of color and beauty in your yard.
